Art Glass Earrings
These earrings are
handcrafted by Renaissance Art Glass Studio in North
Carolina. Each earring pair are unique. The glass used is called dichroic
glass. The colors are a result of micro thin layers of metal oxides
within the glass art piece. The light is bent as it enters the glass
and returns to your eye as brilliant color. Unlike dyes or pigments,
most of the light is reflected back directly to your eye. This accounts
for the
unusual brilliance of the glass. The process of making this dichroic
art glass involves many layers of
glass and many other steps to arrive at the finished art glass. The
glass is fired in the kiln as many as
four times to over 1400 degrees. Each firing can take several hours.
The earrings are set in sterling silver.
Please note that the art glass earrings vary in color due to the uniqueness
of the handcrafted glass.
The earrings below will give you an idea of what the colors look like.
